Music of the Spheres"He now determined that truth, beauty and goodness would be his 'guiding lanes of direction in a life of spiritual growth and self-mastery'." The first video about The Urantia Book that appears on Gary Tonge’s well-followed YouTube channel unfolds to the music of Claude Debussy. The great French composer’s Claire de Lune (moonlight) provides an uplifting soundscape to Gary’s 2010 video called Journey Through the Universe. Fast forward to 2023 and one of Gary’s latest videos, titled The Urantia Book – What is Revelation?, uses contemporary music composed specially for the video by Jeremy Daigle. Jeremy’s evocative soundtrack weaves through the narration in sync with the intricacies of inner and epochal revelation expounded by the velvety voice of Andre Radatus. The music never competes for attention but subtly amplifies the message. That approach is perfectly in tune with the decision Jeremy made about 16 years ago after finding The Urantia Book: that he would do his best to align his music to the book’s concepts and teachings. Having been “on the fence about Jesus and religion” before the book entered his life (in fact, he says he was leaning towards atheism), he now determined that truth, beauty and goodness would be his "guiding lanes of direction in a life of spiritual growth and self-mastery.” A screenshot of Gary Tonge's video about revelation, with music by Jeremy Daigle. Perhaps it was the order of angels who act as social architects that a few years later brought him in contact with Gary Tonge, whose YouTube channel has over 5,000 subscribers and whose videos have amassed as many as 157,000 views. Jeremy has since composed the music of several of Gary’s videos about themes from The Urantia Book, often playing to starry scenes and cosmic canvases. A music writer and performer for over 25 years, Jeremy is ever conscious of the need to improve quality as he strives to help uplift the art and culture of Urantia through his work. In 2022 he needed some funds to purchase new software and plug-ins to enhance his music-creation abilities, produce more realistic sounding instruments and choirs, and offer a more immersive experience for listeners of his video scores. An application for a grant to The Urantia Book Fellowship’s Second Miler Grant Program was readily accepted. The plug-ins he purchased with the grant have not only helped him in his work with Gary but also on his own Urantia Book inspired music project called Emergents, in which he writes, produces and performs. “Funding like this really helps people like Gary and me to produce content for the revelation,” he says. “We aren’t bankrolled by anyone and have to work full time to support our endeavors. So every little bit helps!” The two are now working on a 2024 video. Stay tuned! | Learn more about the Second Miler Grant Program: Click here for details and application form.
