Mom’s Paintbrush

by Tom Choquette

I went to the bluff to worship for the first time in almost two months and was greeted by the fullness of Mom’s beautiful creation which she blesses us with constantly. [Note: Here “Mom” means our local universe Mother Spirit.] Stretching out before me was a vast body of water outlined by snow-capped mountains and surrounded by islands that form stepping stones across its surface.

The sea shimmers in the early morning sunlight and what few clouds there are seem to chase one another while dancing in the wind. A lone sailboat glides effortlessly across the liquid expanse, its sails billowing joyfully while moving the boat in the direction that Mom’s winds govern.

It dawns on me that Mom’s paintbrush continually nudges and nurtures her material creations for her joy and our enjoyment. She is an artist extraordinaire and offers each of us a paintbrush to enhance her beauty with our unique touch of goodness.

She would train us to be artists and creators in the realms of the soul. She has given each of us our own paintbrush and offers the gentle direction of her wind to help guide our brush across the fabric of her creation. She needs each of us to fill in those colors that would not be, without our active participation, in her “classroom.”

As our divine instructor, she asks us not to worry so much about the classroom or the supplies; those are her job. Our job, she insists, is to use our paintbrush to color goodness on those we touch as they pass by. To spread love abundantly on each canvas that we touch.

She purrs when we grace God’s children in such a way that we help create a unique canvas whose beauty unfolds into a conscious child of the Divine, the most beautiful art in the universe.

[Note: Here “the Divine” means all spiritual influences together.]

And her purr resonates through us and strengthens our souls.

Spirit of Truth Interview
of David Kantor 2022

by Chuck Thurston and Derek Samaras

https://youtu.be/E-5qicaZv8o (55 minutes)

David Kantor’s films encourage our minds to become more hospitable to the work of the Spirit of Truth. In this interview, David shares unique insights from his long years in study of and in service to this revelation, including:

• his mission to share the life of Jesus with its trans-denominational, spiritual value;

• significant learnings from the early church on gender roles, political savvy, and Visigoth ministry;

• the two courses this revelation could take within our turbulent world;

• his experiences with early Urantia Book leadership and the origin of “The Publication Mandate”; and

• how grateful he is to have been assigned to this troubled, evolutionary planet.

“Jesus is the guy in the cubicle next to me.” David Kantor

David first read The Urantia Book in 1966. Shortly thereafter, he began to use his media skills to share the revelation. David has produced the film Re-imagining Jesus (available on Amazon Prime Video). His current film project is a feature-length introduction to The Urantia Book. With this film, David addresses the crisis in Christianity and describes the evolutionary context in which the Urantia revelation appears.

His research for the film uncovered stories of people who have steadfastly upheld the teachings of Jesus: men and women ministering side by side, Athanasius navigating political power to champion truth, and Ulfilas creating a Goth alphabet in his ministry to the Visigoths. It also tracks generations that have tossed out anything transcendent.

David has first-hand experience with the organizations that developed to support and lead The Urantia Book movement. He knew and worked with many of its leaders. He gathered and archived the documents of that era. His insights provide context to topics that may seem fuzzy to later generations of readers.

The world today, David says, is like the spring runoff on the Colorado River—turbulent! When thinking about how this revelation might work within this turbulence, David points out two possibilities. Listen to find out why David is so grateful to be assigned to this troubled, evolutionary planet.
