Alien Possibilities in The Urantia Book

“Man is gradually backing into the truth, beginning in error, progressing in error, and finally attaining the threshold of truth.” (88:4.5)

Do we have little green men visiting us? Are there UFOs that defy the laws of  physics? Are there UAPs (unidentified anomalous phenomena) under the ocean the size of football fields? Are people getting abducted and re-programmed? Are there 'walk-ins,' starseeds? Is the Galactic Federation of Light channeling visitors from the Pleiades? What are all those orbs?  

There's no doubt that people are experiencing phenomenal events like these. But what is really going on behind the scenes? Take a journey with me through The Urantia Book to explore, step by step, what's unlikely, what's feasible, and what's probably going on. 

The football-sized UAPs I'll leave for another time. For now, let's focus on this  question: Are little green men, or any alien mortals, visiting our planet?  

What's Unlikely 

Most people who believe in UFOs assume they are extreme high-tech spacecrafts from highly advanced beings on other planets. But is this even feasible? SpaceX's Crew  Dragon travels to and from the International Space Station at about 27,000 mph. The  fastest unmanned interstellar craft was, and still is, the Voyager I space probe launched  in 1977, which has reached speeds of 38,027 mph. Perhaps that's why they say that  UFOs can reach speeds of up to 40,000 miles per hour or more. Let's assume they can. Then how long would it take aliens to reach us?  

Take a look here:  

It's obvious to me that material craft, even ones advanced beyond our conception, are not going to make it here from the Pleiades, and likely not even from Pluto. Or from beyond Pluto, where I've heard it speculated that an invisible, nonbreather planet might be. Others suspect the nearby nonbreathers (49:3.6) are on a moon of Jupiter, Ganymede. Is it feasible that beings have made that 1.4 year trip? You decide.  

But is distance really an inhibitor? Haven't more advanced beings figured out technological ways to beat the speed of light? Worm holes, warp speed, dimensional portals, parallel universes?  

Nope. No such things are mentioned in The Urantia Book. The only thing close is gravity; it can be used for transit by Gravity Messengers who can go anywhere, anytime – instanter (23:3.2). But they are personalized Adjusters (31:2.2), a little above our pay grade. Transcendental Recorders are similarly transcendent of time and space, but they are, well, transcendent. Without discoverable form. Transcendental meditation isn't going to get us there.  

Solitary Messengers can travel at 4.5 million times the speed of light. How do they do that? Being the first-born creatures of the Infinite Spirit, personalized in time and spiritualized in space, they are constant partakers of the direct circuit emanating from the Infinite Spirit (23:1.8). When in transit, they rely on the sustenance and the direction of their Paradise circuit. We mortals don't move in these lofty circles.  

It took a Divine Counselor 109 days to journey from Uversa to Urantia. Assuming 200,000 light years, they were going 671,560 times the speed of light. They, and all Trinity-origin beings, have prerogatives of transit that include utilizing “the sum total of the transport facilities” (19:7.4). They don't need transport angels, and neither will we  when we are Trinity-embraced finaliters. That's a little ways away. Until then, I strongly  suspect, the sum total of transport facilities are off limits for those of us still connected  to flesh and blood.  

The transport facilities we do have available to us are the transport seraphim. That is, after we die, because even the angels cannot transport combustion bodies—flesh and  blood (39:2.13). Which makes teleportation highly improbable, especially between  planets! Compared to the Divine Counselors, the transport seraphim crawl at three times the speed of light. Midway creatures can go almost twice the speed of light, but 23:3.2 and 31:2.1 make it clear that other angels, men and other highly personal beings are  handicapped by time and space.  

So let's x-ray the idea that material bodies from another planet are visiting us. Take a look at the Galactic Federation of Light (GFL), who hail, ostensibly, from the Pleiades (or sometimes other ‘federated’ planets such as Sirius, Arcturus, Andromeda, or Orion). These are the good guys, described frequently as tall, fair-skinned, blonde-haired humanoids with advanced technology and spiritual evolution. They are portrayed as  having physical bodies in their home realm and using spacecraft or dimensional travel to monitor or intervene in Earth's affairs without widespread physical landings. 

Dimensional travel? According to them, they can pop up to the 4th or 5th dimension and then come down over here to give their messages exoconsciously—via mind travel—with their bodies staying on their home planet. Then, through channellers or ‘starseeds,’ their invisible presences communicate messages via handsome and beautiful avatars on  the internet. By the way, only ‘high vibration’ individuals are good enough to receive  these transmissions.  

Fictions aside (as in some GFL claims that they are humanity’s primary genetic ancestors, with some of their spirit representatives, including Jesus, incarnating here as 'starseeds’ to help us), is it possible that these aliens can jump dimensions?  

The Urantia Book states clearly in 112:1.9 that there are three finite dimensions, three  absonite, and one absolute. These are not physical dimensions though, that a spacecraft  could jump in and out of. These are solely personality dimensions of self-expression or  person-realization, and are described in terms of length, width and depth. True, our  changeless personalities span all seven dimensions, but that is so that we are attuned to  the same will of God whatever stage of our career we are in; it does not imply, in my  opinion, that material aliens can ride their personalities up to the absonite level, mind  travel, and come back down to communicate with earthly minds, at their will, no matter  how advanced they are.  

What about the psychic circles (110:6)? Could the references to a 4th or 5th dimension be semantically the same as achieving the 3rd, 2nd or 1st psychic circle? I don't think so. Those circles are cosmic levels, reflecting the degree of kinship with the Supreme Being, and marked by a spiritizing mind nearing the Adjuster presence.  

Both of these Urantia Book dimensional concepts seem to be all about the individual's  progression toward God, giving very little clues about what psychic abilities we might  gain as we progress. But what about the absonite dimensions? Could these ‘advanced’  beings be able to tap into the realm of the Ultimate, where time and space are  transcended (0:9.1)?  

That seems a bit of a stretch, since 0:7.10 tells us that the purpose of time-space finite reality is the attempt to reach absonite levels of supercreature attainment. And Michael, when he became Master Michael close to 2000 years ago, was liberated only of his potential for absonite function (119:8.6). We mortals are not quite there yet.

And then there is the little issue of the quarantine. With reference to celestial  beings tapping into the universe broadcasts, “Planetary intercommunication is denied only those worlds under spiritual quarantine” (33:6.5). God's universe is ruled by law, and if the celestials are denied planetary intercommunication, I expect material beings are too.  

Ah, but what if the quarantine has been lifted? Or, as I've heard some claim,  partially lifted? Sorry. If it is, it's use is restricted to higher orders of celestial beings, according to 33:6.5.  

Then what about reflectivity? Oops, that is the purview of the offspring of the  Infinite Spirit and Majeston.  

Wait! With reference to reflectivity, the revelators do state in 17:3.9 that “we have every reason to believe that all Father fragments are fully cognizant of these transactions and are able to avail themselves of their content.” So, couldn't the Adjusters of the aliens ‘talk to’ the Adjusters of earthlings and get their messages across time and space that  way?  

They could. 108:4.4 and 109:2.9 corroborate that even under quarantine, and on occasion in planetary crises, Adjusters liaise one with another.  

But would they?  

Recall the revelators introduce Paper 72 on the “Government on a Neighboring  Planet” as an extraordinary presentation: “...it is most unusual for the system rulers to consent to the narration on one planet of the affairs of another.” 

A stronger question is, “Why would they?” Thought Adjusters already have all the wisdom, guidance, information and instructions that we need, and more. Much more. In  consonance with the evolutionary plan of perfection attainment, and the occasional  interjection of revelation, our progress is ordered and overcontrolled with supreme  wisdom, and undoubtedly, patience. Plus, our beloved Universal Father's conduct of  interplanetary affairs has “no variableness nor shadow of changing.” (2:2.1).  

But, and this is a big BUT, if aliens from other planets are not visiting us, or  communicating with us, then what is going on? People are experiencing all kinds of alien sightings, communications, abductions, and channelled beings more and more frequently. 

What's Feasible? 

Let's start again. These experiences appear to abrogate time and space. We mortals, the angels, and the countless creatures of our local universe are limited by time and space, but our Creative Mother Spirit (limited by time) and our Creator Son (limited by space) together are not (34:3.6). I contend that if time and space are being transcended, it is being enabled by them. And if that's the case, they have a plan.  

Likely, a very sophisticated plan. You might even call it an Ultimate plan, because “No matter in what part of the master universe, whenever time and space are transcended, such an absonite phenomenon is an act of the Ultimacy of Deity” (0:1.12). It is a fact that Master Michael will be part of the Ultimate Trinity, and “it is the practice  to send forth advance groups of administrators to prepare the way for the subsequent and successive eras of new administrative overcontrol. Even God the Ultimate foreshadows  his transcendental overcontrol of the universes during the later stages of a local universe  settled in light and life” (56:7.5). 

Hmmm. We are a looooonnnnggg way off from being anywhere near light and life. Yet there's just too much anomalous stuff going on for our spirit friends not to be involved. Couldn't there be—there must be!—ways within finite reality that these  events are happening? 

Take the midway creatures, for example. At twice the speed of light, they can travel faster than light in a dark room when you flick a light switch. They can take visible form (51:3.6), and since their grandparents, Adamson and Ratta, were of the highest Nodite and Adamsonite genetics, the midway creatures would likely be tall and quite agreeable to the eye. Kinda like the sightings of the ‘Nordic’ type of alien, or the GFL beings showing up on the internet.  

Melchizedeks can also take physical form, and the form they take is variable, as in our Machiventa who resembled the then blended Nodite and Sumerian peoples (93:2.5). Cherubim and Sanobim are intriguingly “almost human,” near of kin to the more  progressive types of human beings (38:7.1). Can they be made visible? Or do they just  show up as orbs, described in sightings as bright, self-luminous spheres that hover, dart  erratically, or move in formation? 

Then of course our spirit friends have proven they can manufacture “literal bodies  consisting of flesh and blood,” as they did for the Caligastia one hundred (66:2.5). Add  in the unrevealed beings and there are endless possibilities for apparitions or semi physical ‘aliens’ being experienced on Urantia. There could even be some bodies held  under observation that disintegrate, or unexplainedly disappear, as Jesus’s body did. 

The channelled messages, though. How could they be happening? Adam and Eve were able to exchange thoughts, but that function was constrained to a 50-mile distance and required physical gas chambers near their brains (74:6.6). It is conceivable that  advanced alien beings could exchange thoughts in that way. It is also feasible that some  of us have inherited a tidbit of those far-distant genes. But remember, “this power was  instantly suspended upon the mind’s surrender to the discord and disruption of evil.” It is our spirit friends who enable this power—or do not.  

Then there are celestial artisans who are mind energy manipulators, experts of  intercommunication between morontia and other types of intelligent beings, whose “work embraces numerous unique adventures in intellect liaison” (44:5.3). This sounds promising. Even though The Urantia Book goes on to state in the same passage that “This form of communication between mortals is practically nonexistent on Urantia”, it’s quite possible that  the rampant upsurge in channelers has been catalyzed by these beings and others since that statement was written. 

We can take it up a notch. Every single being in our local universe is encircuited  in the single mind of the Creative Mother Spirit. She knows everything, and if she chooses to send messages from one mind to another, she can. If any creature communicates mindally, she enables it. She can even create it. In my opinion, she, or her ministers under her direction, can simulate the personification of any being and have it come across to us as someone we, or any channeller, are communicating with mindally.  

Do you recall the story of Our Lady of Fatima? This apparition identified herself to three shepherd children in Portugal in 1917 as the “Lady of the Rosary,” a traditional Marian title referring to Mary, the mother of Jesus. We Urantia Book readers know this wasn't Mary. Later that year, 50,000-70,000 people who were gathered there saw the sun dance in the sky. Did it? Or did the Master Physical Controllers manipulate people's sight to make it appear to do so? They certainly manipulated the sight of Peter, James and John so that they could see Jesus, Gabriel and the Father Melchizedek! (158:1.8).  

Let's get radical here. What if the entire narrative of alien visitation is an artfully  constructed set of teaching stories carefully designed to uplift this “sin-stricken, evil dominated, self-seeking, isolated world” (55:5.1) into a humanity that at least believes  there is someone ‘out there’ besides ourselves?  

Consider the message from the GFL that Jesus was a starseed, incarnated here only a representative of an amorphous Christ Consciousness. Could it be possible that our spirit friends concocted this falsehood? Well, suppose they were messaging a person who disdained any mention of Jesus, whose concept frame would not allow the truth! That person would have received a warped message because only that message could be  received. Our spirit friends will use any artifice necessary to reach us. Instead of  thinking this is a horrible thing, think of it as evolution:  

“Man is gradually backing into the truth, beginning in error, progressing in error, and finally attaining the threshold of truth.” (88:4.5)

From this perspective, any messages received by channelers are suspect, even though, at the same time, they can be incredibly useful...temporarily. Scaffolding. Remember when Peter thought he saw Moses and Elijah with Jesus on Mount Hermon? (158:1.9). Jesus didn't correct him. That story has been useful for almost 2000 years! 

This explanation of alien visitations being purposefully constructed for our  upliftment can be thought of as a superconscious intervention. There’s a corollary  explanation worth exploring, however, that could be thought of as a subconscious  eruption.  

Our Godless culture is starved for a spiritual anything, in my opinion. This undeveloped urge, unbounded by discipline and correct understanding, can concoct whatever anything people are craving. Put aliens into the zeitgeist, and people will experience aliens. From zombie and horror movies to the “many strange things” that rebel midwayers did for some 200,000 years (77:7.3), we have a collective reservoir of undesirable and bizarre images and experiences ready to fill the gap in a Godless concept frame. Or worse, in an “I am God” concept frame.  

As a result, we end up with a thought reservoir of distortion, primed for erroneous or even dangerous projections.  

“Certain abrupt presentations of thoughts, conclusions, and other pictures of mind are sometimes the direct or indirect work of the Adjuster; but far more often they are the sudden emergence into consciousness of ideas which have been grouping themselves together in the submerged mental levels, natural and everyday  occurrences of normal and ordinary psychic function inherent in the circuits of the evolving animal mind.” (110:4.3) (Author’s emphasis)

I've mentioned the lovely and loving Nordics, or GFL avatars, who do have some beautiful and inspiring messages. However, there are other purported aliens such as the  Greys, the Reptilians, the Insectoids, and the Hybrids. These are showing up as the bad  guys, often emotionless, physically repulsive, and abducting humans to genetically  manipulate or harvest them.  

There is no room in The Urantia Book for insect- or reptilian-humans. “All mortals of will dignity are erect animals, bipeds” (49:4.1). Primitive humans may be treetop dwelling air navigators or marine mammals, yes. But not insects and reptiles.  

Do you doubt that the human mind is capable of producing such projections? Here are a few quotes on that:  

“Religious persons must not regard every vivid psychologic presentiment and every intense emotional experience as a divine revelation or a  spiritual communication.” (91:7.3)

“The human mind may perform in response to so-called  inspiration when it is sensitive either to the uprisings of the subconscious or to the stimulus of the superconscious. In either case it appears to the individual that such augmentations of the content of consciousness are more or less foreign.” (91:7.4)  

“In times past, divine beings have revealed themselves to certain God-knowing persons, not because of their mystic trances or morbid visions, but in spite of all these phenomena.” (100:5.6) 

“But a human being would do better to err in rejecting an  Adjuster’s expression through believing it to be a purely human experience than to blunder into exalting a reaction of the mortal mind to the sphere of divine dignity.” (110:5.5) 

“More often, in beings of your order, that which you accept as the Adjuster’s voice is in reality the emanation of your own intellect. This is dangerous ground...” (100:5.9)

“Many mystics have carried their mental dissociation to the level of abnormal mental manifestations.” (110:5.6)

It's hard to convince people that what they have heard, seen or touched is not what it seems, but our senses can be controlled by our spirit friends when need be. Of the three children who experienced Our Lady of Fatima, the boy (age 9) could see her but not hear or speak with her. The seven-year-old girl could see and hear her, and the ten-year old girl could see, hear and dialogue with her.  

Our sensory experiences—such as seeing, hearing, touching, tasting, or smelling—are not direct encounters with the external world but interpretations constructed entirely within the brain. Specialized sensory receptors in our eyes, ears, skin, tongue, or nose convert external stimuli into electrical signals which then travel along nerves to specific brain regions for processing.  

It turns out that the Master Physical Controllers can upstep, accelerate, detain, condense, and retard energy currents (29:4). I didn't mention this before, but energy transmitters can function with regard to all forms of communicable perception; they can  render a distant scene “visible” as well as a distant sound “audible.” And guess who else can manipulate these energies? Our friends the midway creatures, among others.  

One last possible source of these unfortunate experiences are the leftover rebels who linger on this planet. The revelators say that Abaddon, whose name means ‘destruction’ in Hebrew, has “ever since acted as chief executive of the Urantia rebels,” implying he may be still around (53:1.5). Caligastia is still free here to pursue his nefarious designs with anyone who really desires to be cursed with his wicked presence (53:8.6).  

But why, if our Creator Parents are stimulating a narrative of aliens to help uplift us, would they allow such distortions? Well, it just isn't their way to squelch opposing forces; witness the Lucifer rebellion. The time lag of mercy includes letting evil run its  course (54:4). And remember the third proclamation of our Creative Mother Spirit “that nothing be done to half cure, cowardly suppress, or otherwise hide the hideous visage of rebels and rebellion. The angelic hosts were directed to work for full disclosure and unlimited opportunity for sin-expression as the quickest technique of achieving the perfect and final cure of the plague of evil and sin” (54:5.11). The book never says that this proclamation has been withdrawn.  

What is Probably Going On? 

To wrap up, allow me to summarize the thesis I have presented here. Aliens are not visiting us from other planets. Our Creator Parents and other concerned celestials have precisely constructed a visible and visceral narrative to shoehorn our Godless culture into a belief that there is something or someone bigger than our material selves. Teaching stories. Concurrently, our stifled inborn urge toward God is pushing its way out of irrelevance and irreverence through any and every thought path, erroneous or not. 

We have regressed. At some point, we will indubitably return to the point where  Machiventa started: the teaching that there is one God. If this seems discouraging,  remember that this is Master Michael's planet, and that Urantia is “the chief of ten  million inhabited worlds” (119:8.8) 

“The confusion and turmoil of Urantia do not signify that the Paradise Rulers lack either interest or ability to manage affairs differently. The Creators are possessed of full power to make Urantia a veritable paradise, but such an Eden would not contribute to the development of those strong, noble, and experienced characters which the Gods are so surely forging out on your world between the anvils of necessity and the hammers of anguish. Your anxieties and sorrows, your trials and disappointments, are just as much a part of the divine plan on your sphere as are the exquisite perfection and infinite adaptation of all things to their supreme purpose on the worlds of the central and perfect universe.” (23:2.12)
